Who We Are

Our team of highly experienced in-house engineers have helped author many of today’s industry standards and specifications.

We were the first to develop, design, and fabricate multi-sided tubular steel transmission poles, the first to use corrosion-resistant weathering steel, the first to utilize full-scale vertical testing, and the first to develop wood-equivalent steel poles. We were the first to design and fabricate 500kV and 765kV single-circuit tubular poles and the first steel transmission manufacturer to become ISO certified.

TIMELINE

Meyer History

Meyer’s Machine Shop
Meyer was first established in 1927, when Louis Meyer purchased a small machine shop in Red Wing, MN.
1927
Meyer Machine Company

Acquired by sons Roy and Gordon. Meyer Machine Company served as a steel fabrication government subcontractor during World War II, then post-war focused on round steel lighting poles & safety climbing devices.

1939
Expansion

The company branched out into stadium & area lighting, eventually expanding to transmission structure design and fabrication in 1957.

Meyer also became the first transmission pole supplier to use corrosion-resistant weathering steel, the first to utilize full-scale vertical testing, and the first to develop and distribute wood-equivalent steel poles.

1950's
Transforming Structure Design

Transmission lines were facing heavy public scrutiny, driven by issues such as limited rights-of-way, large transmission footprints, and unsightly aesthetics. Meyer introduced the patented Poly-12 multi-sided transmission pole, improving public acceptance and forever transforming structure design in the transmission industry.

Late 1950’s
Defining National Standards

During the 1960’s, steel transmission pole use had become widespread, with the transmission industry relying heavily on general ASCE and AISI practices. Meyer, along with other suppliers and customers, began the development of the very standards that govern the industry today, including welding, ASTM steel specifications, quality assurance standards, and general guidelines for design, fabrication, and delivery.

1960's
Innovators & Problem Solvers

Trinity Meyer became one of the transmission industry’s premier steel structure providers, offering engineered solutions for many of today’s industry transmission challenges for voltages up to 765kV. Innovations, such as Trinity Meyer’s patented QuickPin Arm Connection® and the QuickPier Adapter™, reduces total installation time and cost while promoting a commitment of continuous improvement, quality and reduction of environmental impact.

We Deliver

Meyer's Process

Our proven process helps us to deliver on-time, as promised.

Testing

Testing is a fundamental and essential part of our design process. Consistent testing validates our proprietary Decant software designs and substantiates everything from arm connections to baseplates. Full-scale testing allows Meyer to leverage the strongest production techniques and innovative solutions, while further upporting our commitment to customers by providing design confidence, continuous improvement and future reliability.

Design & Build

A significant amount of structure damage and failure can be attributed to poor weld compliance and insufficient weld inspections. While industry standards require that all complete joint penetration welds undergo 100% ultrasonic inspection or radiographic inspection, many welds fail to meet this industry standard criteria. Ensuring that your welds are inspected as required by ASCE 48 will assist in the identification of toe cracks or inadequate welding.

Quality Assurance

Meyer is one of the industry’s only ISO 9001:2015 certified structure suppliers, ensuring the highest level of manufacturing quality. We helped to shape many of the manufacturing standards used in the industry today, including ASTM, AWS, and ASCE guidelines, and we are fully committed to continuous improvement.
